Principal Advisor, Smart Campaign
Amit works with the Smart Campaign as a principal advisor, helping MFIs in India and Southeast Asia understand the importance of the Campaign’s Client Protection Principles and ways to incorporate the principles into their operations. He has worked with Accion in India since March 2006, both as a resident advisor to introduce individual lending to Accion partners in India, and as an investment officer. He is also a certified trainer for the ILO Making Microfinance Work program. Before joining Accion, Amit worked with CARE, with the Government of Rajasthan's Rural Non-farm Development Agency (RUDA), and with the grassroots NGO Eklavya in Madhya Pradesh. He specializes in social performance and client protection, microfinance operations, microfinance investments, and livelihoods promotion.
Amit holds a master’s degree from the London School of Economics in social policy and planning, as well as a master’s from the Indian Institute of Forest Management.
