This report details the seven case studies and three mini-case studies used in the “Weathering the Storm: Hazards, Beacons, and Life Rafts: Lessons in Microfinance Crisis Survival from Those Who Have Been There” publication. The seven case studies took place in Ghana, Nigeria, Morocco, Europe and Central Asia region, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, and Southeast Europe. The mini-case studies occurred in Benin, USA, and Indonesia.
These case studies represent microfinance institutions that experienced a crisis during 2009-2010. These studies provide lessons that MFIs can use in the future to avoid or mitigate crises.
