The Center for Financial Inclusion regularly sponsors events (and panels at industry events) on a variety of financial inclusion topics with the intent to bring participants in the industry together to promote new ideas and to collaborate in tackling industry challenges.
The Center’s professionals also regularly speak at industry conferences on issues such as prospects for financial inclusion, client protection and avoiding overindebtedness, investing in inclusive finance, risk management and governance at microfinance institutions, access to finance for persons with disabilities, energy and microfinance, and more.

Second Forum of Microfinance Officials
September 14, 2012, Asuncion, Paraguay
Laura Galindo will present on the Smart Campaign at the Second Forum of Microfinance Officials. The aim of the forum is to share and strengthen proven approaches to microfinance, and ultimately improve social impact in moving forward. Forum sessions include Regional Investment Banking Projections, the Social Impact of Financial Inclusion, and the Impact of Financial Inclusion on Client Development.
Taller Sobre Educación Financiera para el Ahorro en Población en Situación de Pobreza

Sergio Guzman will present the Smart Campaign Tool at this financial literacy conference, which is hosted by the Inter-American Development Bank in Washington, D.C. The objective of the conference is to identify different methodologies of financial education with regard to savings, targeted at low-income adult population, highlighting the results and lessons learned for each case.
UN Conference of States Parties
September 12-14, 2012, New York City, USA
Josh Goldstein will present on Financial Inclusion for Persons with Disabilities at the Fifth Session of the Conference of States Parties to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. The theme of this year’s session is Making the CRPD count for Women and Children, while the sub-themes are Technology and Accessibility, Children with Disabilities, and Women with Disabilities.
2012 Global Youth Economic Opportunities Conference

Elisabeth Rhyne will participate in a panel discussion titled Financial Inclusion and the Demographic Divide: Opportunities & Challenges for Serving Younger & Older Populations with Financial Services. Rhyne’s talk will in part discuss the new CFI publication Financial Inclusion and the Demographic Window, which examines global demographic trends and their implications for financial inclusion.
2012 Civil Society CRPD Forum

Josh Goldstein will present on Financial Inclusions for Persons with Disabilities at the 2012 Civil Society CRPD Forum, which is co-chaired by the International Disability Alliance and UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs. The forum is a full-day event committed to furthering the CRPD, a United Nations Treaty that identifies the rights of persons with disabilities.
